Q: Your music is celebrated for its ability to blend deep and melodic techno with the energy of dance music. Can you share insights into how you approach the production process to achieve this balance?
A: "It probably comes from all the raves we have been to ourselves before TR. And of course a love for all kinds of music. Genres are for stores or people who want to analyze something. If it feels good, we think it doesn't matter. And with almost all the arts, look outside your box."
Q: Over the years, you've built a distinctive sound that resonates with a global audience. How do you keep your sound evolving while staying true to the essence of Township Rebellion?
A: "Of course there are technical aspects to that, which developed over a lot of years and hard work. But it also comes a bit from our perspective on the project in general: what if it’s not all about reaching goals but the journey itself. When steps are made because you like making steps, and not mainly to force reaching goals. The definition of TR Sound is probably a matter of perspective anyway. We don't think too much about it, but we love to keep moving, let's see where it takes us."
Q: Collaboration and remixing play a vital role in the electronic music industry. Are there any artists you're particularly keen to collaborate with or remix for in the future?
A: "That's a difficult one. There is just so much good music out there. Everyone at TR has a deep passion for all kinds of music, we even have a separate chat group just for tracks we could rework into our sets or remix. It's hard to narrow it down to specific artists, but at the moment we would probably be most interested in reworking music outside of our techno cosmos."
Q: Your performances are known for their dynamic energy and ability to connect with the audience. How do you curate your live sets, and is there a particular show that stands out as memorable for you?
A: "It depends on the kind of set, venue, etc. But in general, it's a thing that develops over time. Difficult to name just one event as most memorable. If we have to pick one, it was probably our debut at Arca in São Paulo playing for our friends from RÜFUS DU SOL. What a show, we will never forget that."
Q: Looking ahead, are there any new directions, projects, or innovations you're excited to explore, and what can fans expect from Township Rebellion in the near future?
A: "Oh yes, we got several releases lined up for the coming months and can't wait for all of you to hear it!"
